An atomic explosion awakens Gammera--a giant, fire-breathing turtle monster--from his millions of years of hibernation. Enraged at being roused from such a sound sleep, he takes it out on Tokyo.

Oh, I love Gamera. Maybe just as much as Godzilla.

I think it's mostly due to the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes. I think the did all of the Gamera movies that were released in English. My favorite was Gamera vs Guiron, the giant knife head guy.

That was my first Gamera moment as well.

I was surprised that this version, instead of the Sandy Frank one, actually removed some scenes and replaced them. Notably the "Curley" Air Force Sgt.
