Underrated Game Soundtracks post 2000
#1
So underrated to me means the game itself is underrated and therefore the soundtrack is relatively unknown or it doesn't hit you how good the music while you are playing the game because you are so immersed in the whole experience.

Anyway, I am trying to compile a list of underrated post year 2000 soundtracks. I will eventually look at a pre 2000 one too, but this is what I am looking at this moment.

So, i'm open to opinions and links to Soundtracks for video games released post year 2000.

Here's what I  have so far that I'm definitely going to include:

Tsuganai Atonement (2001)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZPDI1Log0Y&list=PLCF45FC0234BAFDCC&index=1

Celtic inspired. Very melancholy at times. Standout tracks: "Morning Fog in the Village", "Book of Legends", "Whilst I Sleep"

Bastion (2011)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mDWzu5yxLg&list=PL1A3044EBC796E3DC&index=1

Folksy...lots of heart. Just magical. Standout tracks: "Setting Sail, Coming Home", "Terminal March", "In Case of Trouble"

Nier
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2lwFiIaMAE&list=PL8DDD2D047A076DC8&index=1

Eclectic. Mix of choir, vocals, new age, acoustics, ect. Standout tracks: "Kaine Salvation", "Grandma", "The Wretched Automotons", "Cold Steel Coffin"

EDIT:

Ys Oath in Felghana
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5bdJh0G5sA&index=1&list=PL9496EC819BC32CFF

Classic style but rock tinged. Standout tracks: "Be Careful", "Illburn Ruins", "Steeling the Will to Fight"

The Darkness
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsSZ4WTSVMk&list=PLF72E7287A2288BB2&index=1

Ambient, sometimes dark, sometimes frantic. Plus Tomahawk (Mike Patton) in the credits? Yes, please. Standout tracks: " Subway Theme 2", "Butcher's Theme", "Grinders Lane Action Mix"

Baten Kaitos
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfrpuI2Ld3g&list=PL1F96B2116C2110F5&index=1

Orchestral, very warm at times. Also some eclectic techno-ish tracks. Standout tracks "To the End of the Journey of Glittering Stars", "Chaotic Dance", "Soft Labyrinth"

Shatter
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybATfHww9no&list=PL2qVxkZOvsX4EVYJo8BHKSbUfuorAmV4f&index=2

Very  upbeat, got a bit of classic 8 bit feel to it, but almost like it's remixes of 8 bit music. Hotline Miami-esqe. Standout tracks: "Kinetic Harvest", "Freon World", "Argon Refinery".

Digital Devil Saga
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TB_Al8lCKKE&index=2&list=PL0008307CF3DC119A

You could probably describe this as dark jazz with a rock tinge. Standout tracks: "Manipura", "Hideout of the Chickens" "Hunting-Compulsion"

Talos Principle
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OO6YTmAmU0U&list=PLwIP2Z01qeTZdMhb0SR-Ba-kglL3tVvKh&index=1

Ambient, very lovely. Relaxing, good background music.. Standout tracks: "Made of Words", "All Else is Decay", "Your Wisdom Grows"

Radiata Stories
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fisal38Moec&list=PL6pPAaw-_yi13xhoX5pfTGyFkmxpmg8la&index=1

Classic, but elevated classic. Some really nice relaxing tunes and also not afraid to be goofy at times. Standout tracks: "Those With and Without Humanity", "Outsiders", Honky-Tonk Boy"

Deadly Premonition
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoaxqYIXKW4&index=1&list=PL7D5E203C4A465511

As weird as the game. Sometimes mellow, sometimes creepy, and sometimes campy but very well done. Standout tracks: "The Woods and the Goddess", "Life is Beautiful", "Milk Barn"

I actually purchased the Bastion soundtrack after I finished the LP of the game cause I loved it so much.

I'd add to this list the Baten Kaitos and Baten Kaitos Origins soundtracks. I think they're pretty damn amazing and I never hear anyone talking about them.

Added The Darkness and Baten Kaitos. I was thinking about Baten Kaitos before, since watching Jason play it and decided to include it in my final list.

Added Shatter and Digital Devil Saga. Really happy with how the list is turning out! I'm going to add 2-4 more eventually but I still welcome suggestions! I know I'm probably missing a lot of stuff.

Zelda 2 I think had a great soundtrack that doesn't get enough attention... oh same with Link's Awakening.

^ I was going for post 2000 soundtracks. I don't remember Zelda 2's music much, but I'll look at it if I put together a pre 2000 era soundtracks.

Added Talos Principle soundtrack. I'm still trying to come up with 1 or 2 more.

Oooh yeah, sorry.

Um... Viewtiful Joe then. I never seem to hear it mentioned when people talk soundtracks... and it just works so well with the game.

Oooh, Radiata Stories. I haven't played that game in ages. I'll check that and Viewtiful Joe out. That's the PS2 game, yeah? I always get that and Radiant Historia (also great game) on DS mixed up.
